Peter T. Lopez
Chairperson
Pete joined the Greylock FCU board in December 2016 and was voted in as Chairman of the board in 2023. Chairman Lopez brings breadth and depth of experience in information technology and business process improvement. He is a member of Greylock’s ALCO committee, Governance/Bylaw committee, and a member of Greylock Technology Group (CUSO) Board of Managers. Pete has a bachelor’s in Computer Science from the University of Akron. In 2012 he founded The Fieldhouse at Canaan, NY, an indoor sports training facility focused on local youth development. Pete started his career with GE in 1986 and has held CIO/business leadership roles in GE Lighting, GE Plastics, SABIC, and Tyco International. Locally, he has also worked with LTI SmartGlass in Pittsfield and as a director for OnProcess Technology in the Boston area. Pete, his wife Kim, and their three daughters have enjoyed life in the Berkshires since 2002.
Kelly J. Krok
Vice Chairperson
Kelly joined the Board in January 2013 and serves on the Community Support and Compensation (Chair) committees. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. Kelly is a Senior Advanced Human Resource Business Partner for General Dynamics. She and her husband Joseph live in Pittsfield and have two children and two grandchildren
Krystle A. Blake
Secretary/Financial Officer
Krystle joined the board in May 2018. She serves on the ALCO and Community Support committees. She is an Engineering Technical Manager at General Dynamics Mission Systems. In the community, Krystle is a member of the Berkshire United Way Board of Directors, serves on the Pittsfield Economic Development Authority Board, and teaches Zumba at Berkshire Yoga Dance and Fitness. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Union College, a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from UMass Isenberg School of Management. She lives in Pittsfield with her husband, Carlton, and their cat, Binx.
Gerard E. Burke
Gerard E. “Jerry” Burke was elected to the Board in 1999. Jerry 23 years of board service include being Board Chairman from 2013 – 2017. Director Burke currently chairs the Board Governance/Bylaw committee, and serves on the Compensation and Nomination Committees. He also serves on the Greylock Financial and Insurance Services LLC (CUSO) board. Jerry recently retired as President and CEO of Hillcrest Education Centers, and holds a master’s degree in business administration from Western New England College, a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Anna Maria College, and a bachelor’s degree in special education from Fitchburg State College. Director Burke also serves on the Board of Trustees of Berkshire Integritus, Inc. Jerry currently lives in Harwich, MA with his wife Kate.
Tyrone Allan Jackson
Ty joined the board in November 2015 and currently chairs the Community Support Committee and serves on the Loan Policy and Greylock Technology Group committees. Ty is the founder of Ty Allan Jackson LLC and co-founder of Read or Else movement. His books have been featured on CNN, NBC, PBS, and other news outlets, and were gifted to former First Lady Michelle Obama. A Bronx, NY native, Ty now lives in Fresno, CA, where he continues to create entertaining and educational content that inspires young readers.
Sheila A. LaBarbera
Sheila joined the Board in 1999 and currently chairs the Loan Policy Committee; she also serves on the compensation and governance committees. Sheila was also the first woman to serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors. She earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Business from Western New England College. Sheila is the Executive Director of the Berkshire County Retirement Board. An avid golfer, she is a member of the BHCC. She lives in Pittsfield with her dog Dutch.
John C. Law
John was elected to the board in 2015. He serves on Greylock’s ALCO and Compensation committees, and he chairs the Board of Managers of Greylock Financial and Insurance Services LLC (CUSO). He recently retired as Vice President for Administration & Finance / Chief Financial Officer at Berkshire Community College. Prior to that position, John had twenty-nine years of experience in the financial services industry, culminating as President & C.E.O. of a community bank. He received a B.A. from Williams College and an M.B.A. from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. John has served as past president of Northern Berkshire Community Coalition and Northern Berkshire United Way as well as director of Berkshire Chamber of Commerce, Northern Berkshire YMCA, and Higher Ground.
Brett Random, MSW
Brett Random joined the Board in 2023. Brett is a Social Work professional who has spent her career serving Berkshire County in a variety of roles working in mission-driven organizations. With a solid base in the capacity of family and community-centered work, her leadership practices reflect an inclusive strength-based framework that promotes the power of differences and supports community resilience.
Appointed by the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women as a Commonwealth Heroine, Brett is recognized as a leader, mentor, and innovator in our community. Outside of her role as the Executive Director for Berkshire County Head Start, Brett volunteers her time to various organizations, including the city of Pittsfield’s Advisory Council for the American Rescue Plan (A.R.P.A.), Department of Transitional Assistance Advisory Committee, and the DCF Advisory Board. Brett has previously served as a mentor for the Rites of Passage and the Empowerment Program, and as a committee member for the Berkshire Compact for Education Committee.
Brett holds a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies of children, families, and society from MCLA, a master’s degree in social work from Westfield State University and holds a certification in organizational leadership from Harvard Business School.
Stanley B. Walczyk
Stan joined the board in November 2011. He served as Chairman of the Board from 2018-2023 and currently serves on the Community Support, Governance & Bylaws, and the Loan Policy Committees. Stan graduated from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in 1975. He was the President of O’Laughlin’s Home Care Pharmacy, which was sold to Price Chopper in 2016. Stan served as the President of the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy in 2011 as well as the MA Pharmacist Association, and was a member of the National Association of Retail Druggists. He currently serves on the Berkshire Community College Foundation and is a Dalton Rotarian in the town in which he resides with his wife Paula. They have two grown children, Kate and John.
Bryan E. House
Bryan is the Director of Community Outreach and Engagement with the Berkshire County District Attorney's Office. He is heavily involved in the community and currently serves on the Multicultural BRIDGE Race Task Force, the City of Pittsfield’s Personnel Review Board, MassHire Berkshire Workforce Board and the Boards of Directors for UCP of Berkshire County and Pittsfield Community Television. Bryan lives in Housatonic with his wife and family.
Lori Broderick-Bean
Lori is a Senior Accountant with the firm McMahon & Vigeant. Lori earned her MBA at Western New England College and is a graduate in finance from Bentley University. As a life-long Berkshire County resident, Lori has volunteered on many youth focused committees over the years. Lori lives in Dalton with her husband and three daughters.
Catheryn Chacon Ortega
Catheryn is a Tax Accountant with Smith Watson & Company. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Accounting from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 2015 and 2016 respectively. She serves on the board of Berkshire Community College and LitNet. She also co-founded Latinas-413, a coalition of women focused on the needs of Latina women in the Berkshires. She moved to the Berkshires from Colombia in 2005 and has called it home since then. She is a supporter and advocate of the immigrant community and a strong believer of the power of education.
Joseph R. Baker
Joe Baker joined Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation in May 2019 as Vice President of Finance and Administration. He oversees finances, investments, human resources and operations for the Foundation.
Joe has worked in the community foundation field for nearly 20 years and brings a background in nonprofit finance, development and community initiatives. He previously worked for Fairfield County’s Community Foundation and the Community Foundation for Greater New Britain, both in Connecticut. Joe has also led United Ways, nonprofit service organizations and developed Danbury Children First, a parent-led community initiative.
Joe earned his MBA from the Yale School of Management and a Bachelor of Arts in economics and Spanish from Colby College. He serves as treasurer of the Financial and Administrators Officers Group, and association of community foundations finance professionals. He lives in Sheffield, Mass., with his family.
